Web

Tor and Fingerprinting

Tor is a free to use web browser that BLOCKS TRACKERS, DEFENDS YOU AGAINST SURVEILLANCE, RESIST FINGERPRINTING, HAS MULTI-LAYERED ENCRYPTION but tor is slow. And so you can't use it as an every day browser. You can use FireFox which is the browser that tor is based on, it's also open-source and has a great community. On fireFox you may want to do some manual work. You can install many "anti-fingerprint" extentions to protect you from fingerprinting ( font fingerprinting, AudioContext fingerprinting, WebGL fingerprinting, Canva fingerprinting... ), you may also want to use a User-agent switcher so the websites you're going on don't know what OS you are running and what browser you are using... If you do not use tor you need at least a VPN ( Virtual Private Network ) your internet provider won't be able to tell on which websites your are trying to get and website won't see your real IP please choose a VPN that has a great no-log policy ( not NordVPN and others like that ) my favorite: RiseVPN. Now about the search engine you should use I personally use Metager and it's by far the best, it does not log what you're searching for along with your IP. ( Do not use Duckduckgo, Google... ).

For ethical hacker: in your terminal when you are doing any action that involves a web request, you need to use Tor by typing torify, exemple: torify python3 main.py, to install Tor simply run sudo apt install tor. There are some alternatives like Proxychians, here you just need to type in proxychains instead of torify, exemple: proxychains python3 main.py, to install Proxychains simply run sudo apt install proxychains.

OSINT

Open Source INTelligent

What is OSINT? OSINT is used by attackers to gain informations about their targets and if you don't know how to protect yourself against it the attackers might be able to pull out some really private informations. This stck of information about an individual or a compagny is often posted on doxbin.com, doxbin.net or doxbin.org. You should definitely search your usernames or name on doxbinn to see if you've already been doxxed. Now how to protect from it? First do not register on social medias with your real e-mail, you can use a mail2tor or just a gmail as long as it do not has you name and picture you're ok and you can check that on epieos, you need to have a randomly generated username. Do not give out inforamtions as simple as mail, phone number, name... These are precious... If somehow someone get your mail you definitely want to check haveibeenpwned and see if youur passwords or any sensive informations have leaked. If it has and you don't remember if you changed your password enter your mail in _IntelligenceX the click an all the text files you see and filter by your email, and you'll see which infomations've been leaked.

Communication

Mail and Messaging Apps

Signal is one of the best messaging apps ont the internet, as they say: Signal is an independent nonprofit. We're not tied to any major tech companies, and we can never be acquired by one either. Development is supported by grants and donations from people like you. The best e-mail provider is Mail2Tor, mail2tor is a free anonymous mail provider, it is a tor hidden service and uses a .onion domain to make sure not even you internet provider knows you are using mail2tor. The link is just but may change so you'll probably need to check the clear-net website mail2tor.com

OS

Operating systems and Linux distributions

An operating system is system software. It manages computer hardware and the software resources. The most famous OS is of course Windows from Microsoft. You may also have heard words like GNU, Linux or Unix when talking about OS. GNU’s primary goal was to create an Unix-based OS ( Unix is an OS developed in the 70s by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie ), so user would be able to read and modify the source code. This is what we call open-source ( users can read the entire code and help the developers ). Linux is a kernel ( a kernel organizes processes and data in the computer, it's considered as the heart of any OS ) that has the same mentality as GNU. The best part about it? Linux is free! And you can use it right now using for exemple Balena Etcher with an ISO image file and a usb stick ( optional : an external hard disk ). But why should you use Linux? A very great question. Well linux is free and easy to use if you don't value your time :), it is a more stable operating system and it has tones of open-source softwares you can install, linux is one if not the best thing for customization, it does not sell your datas and last but not least it runs on any hardware, it can litteraly run on a Tesla car, this is ridiculously incredible. My personal favorites: Tails, Mint, Arch, Parrot and Kali.

Hardware

Intel ME

The Intel ME or Intel Management Engine is a piece of hardware built-in every computer build around 2008 to now, it is extremely dangerous and considered a spyware at the hardware-level. This thing, that acts like a second cpu is vital for your computer and must be handled with extreme care because it could ruin you computer, the Intel ME is considered a backdoor because of all the acces that it has: It has full access to memory ( without the main CPU having any knowledge of that ). Has full access to the TCP/IP stack. Can send and receive network packets, even if the OS is protected by a firewall ( Yes it is fully funtional even if you are using Linux ). Is signed with an RSA 2048 key and cannot be brute-forced. It cannot be disabled on newer Intel Core2 CPUs. And keep in mind that all these datas are being given to law enforcement. You need to buy a PC or Laptop that was made before ~2007.
